Thank you hackers
Mon 17th Nov 14
For those of you reading this on the 17th November you'll see by banner and various avatars have gone purple, this is in support of World Prematurity Day. Those of you who have known me for a while will know my daughter was born three months early and spent over six months in intensive care in a very poorly state, as a result of this supporting causes like this is very important to me.
I changed my Twitter avatar last night before going to be and sent a tweet saying why. Just before I turned out the light I checked my feed one last time and found these comments from @anode505:
My first reaction is "who is this dick?" and I got quite worked up about it but then when I thought about it I realised that this was a very rare negative comment. In the past four and a half years I've only ever had positive support from the amazing hacker community so rather than let a negative troll like this get me down I thought it was much better to focus on the positivity out there and say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time out to help someone else out. The hacker community is an amazing place and I'm honoured to be part of it.
